Russian Tea Cakes Recipe



Snowball Cookies, also known as Russian Tea Cakes, are buttery, melt-in-your-mouth treats that are ideal for any occasion. They're made with simple ingredients and dusted with powdered sugar for a delectable sweet taste.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup finely chopped nuts walnuts or pecans

Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 400F 200C

In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until light and fluffy

Add the flour and salt to the butter mixture

Mix until the dough comes together

Stir in the finely chopped nuts

Shape the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on an ungreased baking sheet

Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes or until the bottoms of the cookies are lightly golden

Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool for a few minutes

While still slightly warm, roll the cookies in powdered sugar until coated evenly

Place them on a wire rack to cool completely

Once the cookies are completely cooled, roll them in powdered sugar again for a sweet finish

Store the Russian tea cakes in an airtight container

Enjoy these delicious cookies with a cup of tea or coffee!
