Chewy Gooey Layer Bars



These Chewy Gooey Layer Bars are delicious because they have chocolatey layers that taste like brownies and a gooey coconut topping. Just what you need to satisfy your sweet tooth!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts optional
  • 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded coconut

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350F 175C

Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan

In a small saucepan, melt chocolate chips and butter over low heat, stirring constantly

Remove from heat and let cool slightly

In a large bowl, beat sugar, eggs, and vanilla until well blended

Stir in the chocolate mixture until smooth

Combine flour, cocoa powder, and salt; gradually add to the chocolate mixture and mix well

Stir in nuts if desired

Spread batter evenly into the prepared pan

In another bowl, mix together sweetened condensed milk and shredded coconut

Spread evenly over the chocolate layer

Bake for 25 to 30 minutes in the preheated oven, or until set

Let cool completely before cutting into bars
