This Meatloaf Patty Melt is a tasty take on the classic patty melt. It has a tasty meatloaf patty made with a mix of beef and pork, Swiss cheese on top, and toasted rye bread slices in the middle. This sandwich is filling and hearty, making it perfect for a cozy meal.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb ground pork
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup green bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 8 slices rye bread
  • 8 slices Swiss cheese
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup mustard
  • 1/4 cup pickles, sliced

Instructions:

Put breadcrumbs, chopped onion, chopped green bell pepper, milk, ketchup, grated Parmesan cheese, salt, and black pepper in a large bowl

Mix the ground beef and pork together

Mix everything together well

Four patties should be made from the mixture

Set a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat

For about four to five minutes on each side, or until they're done the way you like them, remove from the heat

Put a slice of Swiss cheese on top of each patty to melt in the last minute of cooking

Put butter on one side of each slice of rye bread while the patties are cooking

Set the bread slices on a griddle or another skillet over medium-low heat and butter one side

Toast the bread until it turns golden brown

In a small bowl, mix mustard and mayonnaise to make a sauce

Spread the sauce on the side of the bread slices that hasn't been toasted to make the patty melts

Four pieces of bread should have a cooked patty on top of them

Put pickles slices and another piece of toasted bread on top of each patty

The toasted side should face inwards

To make the sandwiches, put them back on the griddle or skillet and cook for two to three minutes on each side, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese melts

Take it off the heat, cut it in half, and serve it hot

Have fun with your meatloaf patty melt!
